Indigenous flavours at 2025 Junos Announcement

Tawnshi Charcuterie at the Junos

It's official! The Junos are coming back to Vancouver in 2025 and we were at the kickoff announcement event.

The Fox Cabaret was packed at 11am on a Thursday so it felt like 11 at night. There were more than a couple things that made the event upside down, actually.

DJ Khanvict was playing a chill set while the place filled up with an eclectic mix of media personalities, journalists, and buttoned down government types.

As part of The Let's Hear It program - support of provincial agencies and the local music industry, has helped emerging talent grow - we were thrilled to be treated to a performance by the Snotty Nose Rez Kids! Another fun, backwards moment was seeing the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport nodding along while the crowd chanted in unison, "I got paid today! Bitch, we goin' shopping!"

And we got to meet Mayor Ken Sim and Councillor Sarah Kirby-Yung before they took the stage to welcome the awards host committee.

Thanks for having us! We hope to be part of the Junos when they kick off next year!
